Who is:
John-Robert Curtin CEO. In
addition to being an educator, John-Robert Curtin is an EMMY
award-winning producer with a number of national and
international educational productions to his credit. He has
extensive experience in public television management,
development, and programming.
As former President and CEO of WKPC-TV in Louisville, KY, he led
the operation of a full-service PBS station. He also oversaw the
operation of a 12 channel closed-circuit network serving 93,000
students daily and developed and operated General Electric Major
Appliance's worldwide educational training network.
Mr. Curtin has served as a consultant and advisor to state
departments of education as well as to many businesses. He is a
civic leader in his home community of Louisville, Kentucky, and
has served as board member and officer of numerous local,
regional and national non-profit organizations.
Mr. Curtin is a graduate of Syracuse University and studied and
lectured at the University of Rhode Island and The Wharton
School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Tom Day DVM, MS, DACVA, DACVECC, CVA is the owner of
LVSES. He is a 1988 graduate of The Ohio State University
College of Veterinary Medicine. He completed his Masters
degree in Veterinary Clinical Sciences at Ohio State in 1992
at the same time he completed his residency in Veterinary
Anaesthesiology. He became a diplomat (board certified) in
the American College of Veterinary Anaesthesiologists in
1993. He spent five years as the Section Head of Anaesthesia
and Emergency/Critical Care at Mississippi State University
College of Veterinary Medicine prior to coming to
Louisville. He became a diplomat (board certified) of the
American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care
in 1998, the same year LVSES opened it's doors in
Middletown!!
Dr. Day is a consultant for the Veterinary Information
Network (www.vin.com) and continues to be active in the
Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society (www.veccs.org)
and the American College of Veterinary Emergency and
Critical Care (www.acvecc.org). He has published many
scientific articles and book chapters in the veterinary
literature. Dr. Day is an active member of the American
College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Medicine
and is currently a member of the board certification
examination committee. He is an active member of the
International Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society
that conducts an annual scientific meeting each September.
Dr. Day provides lectures and conducts laboratories for
emergency veterinarians at the annual meeting each year
since 2000.
LVSES is an approved Residency Training Centre for the
American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care
Medicine since 1999. This means that several of the doctors
are training to become specialists in emergency and critical
care medicine. Many doctors have completed the program in
the past and several are board certified emergency
veterinarians around the country. A resident is a doctor who
is focused on emergency and critical care medicine and is
highly trained in this area.
Dr. Day has had the honour of speaking to veterinarians on
an international basis. He has provided lectures in Sweden
and Greece and has spoken to Japanese and Korean
veterinarians (via translation) at the Hawaii Veterinary
Medical Association annual meeting. He enjoys public
speaking and has provided lectures locally, regionally and
across the country.
Dr. Day has authored two books that are currently available.
The first is a veterinary book entitled ECG Interpretation
in the Critically Ill Dog and Cat which was published by
Blackwell Publishing. This book has been translated and
distributed in several languages: Japanese, Polish, Spanish
and Italian! The second is a book for pet owners entitled
The Pet Lover's Guide to First Aid and Emergencies. This
book has recently been translated in Russian!! It is
available at major book stores and through Amazon.com or the
publisher's website at elsevier.com.
